What if you had to pay 3% of your salary each time you cried out while giving birth? A local hospital in Zimbabwe required just that, charging a $5 fee per scream on top of the $50 delivery fee (in a country where the average income is $150), according to Transparency International. After a member of the NGO was able to meet with Zimbabwe’s deputy prime minister, they have heard no more complaints about the screaming charges. Kudos to Transparency International for working to end this reprehensible fee.
