UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s comments following Malala Yousafzai’s speech at the United Nations on Friday, July 12th.
Malala spoke about her experiences recovering from being shot by Taliban militants back in October of last year and her vision for peace, education, and equality:
“The terrorists thought they would change my aims and stop my ambitions. But nothing changed in my life except this: weakness, fear and hopelessness died. Strength, power and courage was born… We will continue our journey to our destination of peace and education. No one can stop us. We will speak up for our rights and we will bring change to our voice. We believe in the power and the strength of our words. Our words can change the whole world because we are all together, united for the cause of education.”
