Every night Rani leaves her home at 2:00am and returns at 7:00am after “going for prostitution” to support her husband, children, and in-laws. In the outskirts of Delhi, a traditional practice of prostitution of Perna women by their husbands continues. While these women “are emphatic that they would never let their daughters go into sex work… Unfortunately, the women have little control over what will happen after their daughters are married, traditionally at very young ages. Unless the girls have another way to earn money for their new families, they will likely follow a now well-worn path.”
